Textiles of the Wiener Werkstatte
Recently we are feeling inspired by the bold shapes and playful colors of Weiner Werkstatte textiles. The Wiener Werkstatte (Vienna Workshop) was an artistic collective based on an interest in eliminating the gap between fine art and crafts, combining both folk and modern techniques. Founded in 1903 by architect Josef Hoffman and artist Kolomon Moser, and consisting of a design school, studios for established designers, a production workshop and retail outlet, the Wiener Werkstatte's goal was to improve everyday life through excellent design and craftsmanship.
The designers attempted to bring to life a world in which all daily objects were united under a single artistic aesthetic, every element contributing to a harmonious whole. That's an idea we can get behind! We love the creative shapes and unique combination of folk and modern aesthetic.

We are loving this Bauhaus designer's geometric designs and beautiful colors! Originally, Albers planned to study glass blowing, but the Bauhaus School limited women to disciplines like weaving and bookmaking. “Fate put into my hands limp threads!” she later recalled. “Threads to build a future?”

Modernist artist Agnes Pelton (1881-1961) created a prolific collection of paintings during her lifetime, but my personal favorite are her dreamy nature-inspired abstractions.
